competition entry
This competition entry imagines a transportation network evolving and expanding our mobility using information technologies, by repurposing streets and highways when 'peak demand' is over and stacking modes of transport vertically.
In the case study zone of Venice Boulevard and the Expo Line (unbuilt at the time of this proposal) a distributed network of 'light mobility' systems – rented bicycles and small electric vehicles – supports the heavy infrastructure of the train line while another distributed network of 'locative media' – information and electronic communication hubs – makes non-mobility an equally viable and increasingly important option for our city.
