On a 13-acre site in the Antelope Valley this project proposes affordable, environmentally responsible permanent supportive housing for Transition Age Youth moving from foster situations – a population in need of not only housing, but stability and life skills.
This design establishes small communities of individuals and family units within a site plan allowing for farming workforce experience and other entrepreneurial training combined with a variety of recreational and skill-building opportunities.
Dwelling units are grouped in clusters of six, establishing a scale of association manageable by the prospective tenants. Individual units are configured and stacked to create protected, shared outdoor space, defining a sense of community and providing support and stability for the project’s tenants.
